Worst times, best ever!

Personally, this past month has been a roller coaster working on quite a list of endeavors. This blog, mainly, has had the visible success in numbers and mainly the writing. I guess penning down everyday here is not going to be a “task” as opposed to something I’d do daily. Like, going to college.

I know.

The internet poses great challenges to use it as a tool for making money. Firstly, there are many more bloggers than I’d have imagined, now that I get to interact with a few of them. Doing so, takes me further away from wanting to monetize on this site as early as now. Before, it was only me posting on my domain-version of the blog. I never realised how good the community on a site like WordPress could be – where most of us are writing, clicking photographs, researching the hidden treasures of science and just creating. Readers’ traffic from WordPress particularly is quite interesting.

Plus, I am learning about the names of countries I never imagined to be a happening reason to my life. To add more to this fact, there are people reading my articles from these very countries holding me as a noob in Geography. As if Sir Dev Prasad from school was not enough to prove me wrong about my lacking interest in social-studies. It is always going to be the subject I look back to.

Here’s a creature from Botswana, a wild, wild country. Also, a name I never knew.

Talking to fellow bloggers feels so right. I interacted with Lou, a craftsman. Having conversations with someone so far and feeling safely progressive to be of art, is a feeling I’ll treasure. I want to ride in the sea with Lou and his stories from the ocean. Then, we’ll not have to worry about a virus hitting any borders. Right?

I am very grateful for the life gifted to me by my known, and now even the unknown. It feels surreal to be living the life you dream of. I am, indeed, loving the life as it remains in me. And, that’s all I ever really hoped for.

What can one lose when all he has is the breath shared with the never ending skies, the oceans until horizon, the birds mocking the flee and humans to enjoy all of it while the mountains roar for my presence in the most of this life.

Thank you!

Placebo: The Friendly Drug Monopoly

Written by Shreyas Melbuddhi

This is the first article in “The Scranton Report” where one post is added to the series every month. These articles are written over a period of time and a lot of fun-filled work goes into making these happen. Let’s go!

The word placebo comes from Latin, like most of English I know. It’s literal meaning (in Latin) is on the terms of “I shall please.” Used in the 21st Century with the context being a little far from the original notions, but much closer. It is no longer restricted on the basis of “pleasing.” On the sweet ambiguous contrary, it is more about pleasing yourself in a way. You might have heard about the placebo effect if you are familiar with medicine. The medical industry, as I am observing while working on this article, has evolved itself to a new state. From being an institution of help to an industry saving lives. I always heard about the cruel business. When you visit a hospital, it mostly becomes the word of talk to point out the faults in the system.

And, the placebo effect explores this kind of evolution very closely.

Strong believers of medicine are helping do this with amusing results, repeatedly. They are rerouting the path it has set for itself on the same grounds it had been growing from the start.

I wanted to learn about the placebo effect to know how influential our mind is in the way we all function. And also, the fact that one of my friend uses it on the same basis of foul language in our city. We use a lot of foul language, without the least kind of regret in Hubballi. Duck, now.

I might have understood how influential the mind is, but there’s another important pattern to observe here on the study of placebo. The many useless operations on a body are being discovered with the help of experiments based on this very effect. We now know many steps in a medical operation proven, or hopefully proven, to be less effective on the whole process when done as an “act.” The pattern of commercialization is inevitable for this article to be whole to me. So, the business had to be addressed.

What is this act? Are doctors even theater artists to do it? Why do they do it? The mission is to get answers, Captain.

Notes to the one who has entered 20s

Dear Shreyas,

Here are a few tips from yourself learning from the amazing life so far. Even when you are self-obsessed, you are made to believe in the notions of the millennia. In which, you might just turn out to be a narcissist. Apart from wanting your work to define you, it is always safe to trust in the generation’s hardships offered.

If it means to be old-school, it is always better than duplicating the generation’s deeds. Creating. Because doing that means you might just not be of the future-cool or even the “old-school.”

It means to be of now.

Slowing down helps you

Most of the times, your actions have been better when done with time. You take time to realise. It is this abundant time you feel as your companion in any hard-period. A chigga outbreak, or an year of depressing thoughts. It is time and light that will guide you.

Spontaneity too has given you joy incomparable.

Living now

As Buddha’s lessons have taught you, living now is the ultimate achievement you seek for in a moment. Believe whatever you want to, but let it be now that you believe in. Wondering if tomorrow you’ll have a job or why you didn’t have one yesterday – has got you nowhere. When you did stop doing it, you have written nearly 14,000 words on a blog. You had offers and chances to make money you never wished for. You cleared 17 backlogs in a year. Remember, passing 20 subjects is different from clearing one subject. And, you did it.

You traveled to the mountains and the sea. And this guy has already given you the medal. You lost it. But, you still have to reach the highest mountains, swim with the currents and live with the trees.

Your life’s quality is independent

Of money. Of time. Of space. And, of anyone.

You are not writing screenplays. You are reading more often. Blah. You love the skies with your family. You rock smiles with your friends. Blah.

Your writing is just about good. You love visuals. You do good photography. Blah. You want to make films. I can’t write notes at a stretch about fMRI (GitHub plug) let alone you. Back to fMRI. Blah. You are doing fine with the works of all kind that you dream of. And, time has never been enough. But, you hope for the dreams as always.

You are awesome.

Haul Up, Grawl Down

I don’t know what you’d be doing in New York.

Due to my conscience, it makes me only possible to feel as if others are thinking about me differently. Like I do about them. Keeping up with the sense, I somehow flow up and down – forward. If there is any ambiguity in my words, look more into them.

“Human” by Jon Bellion

Ego is very critical. It holds the power to defy the righteousness, on the common grounds which one views this creation we all love and live in. It hurts me very bad to see a few around me running around the streets like they are the dogs from the sisterhood of power and money. They have done nothing in their life. That should say a lot about these men and women, who walk around with high esteem like they have achieved something by liking dank memes from 9gag and not RVCJ memes. Also, they buy Gucci over Nike. Unfortunately, we are at those standards where Nike has become the underdog to a few. Rich kids, and only rich kids, are talking about Gucci like they have been living at the Queen’s Palace all their life. She left us, when will you leave her?

there’s no sun, but it’s there

Me defining, or even trying to define this problem of ego is a sure shot of failure, at my level of experience with it. It’s only fair if I see and observe these people who are very obvious at showing their worth.

Fortunately, I can make sense out of these observations. These people, as I refer to them by “these people” would flip out by me refering to them this way. Somehow, their brains have already decided it’s not the right thing and they should act on it. Also, there are “wrong” things registered in their minds. When these happen, they will act. But, even here – they will make it an obvious action, where you will know for sure that it was Narendra Modi who started the Swachh Bharat campaign. This does not mean Narendra Modi is an egoistic personality, because as I am not, he is still a human. If it ever occured to you that I am addressing him as an example for how egoistic people behave, you have to work on the way you read blogs.

If you found that discomforting, about me telling you to learn how to read blogs, you might be facing problems in the way you take suggestions. So, learn how to read blogs and mostly how to live. Because, many have literally forgotten that learning is a part of this life since we all are busy spreading hate like a diabetologist distributing chocolates. It’s not wrong, but it’s wrong specifically.

You have seen people around you call out others for them having a good physique. They appreciate this. It feels like an appreciation, because that is what the society has set the definition as for something to be appreciated. I’ll tell you why, as I have observed, this happens.

leaves can be red too

If someone says “You have a good height”, he means you have a good height. And, she always does. Now, when you’re short, they do not address you with the label “good” or even “bad”. They instead say “You are too short”. The same applies for any trait you see being a compliment in and around the world. So, the next time you are called out, think again – because you might not be called out. I know it’s better if we stop looking for some kind of meaning in everything.

I hope we all one day will stop labeling things by good and bad, and furthermore defy the labels of high and low.
